Monica Gordon

Monica Gordon is the Cook County Clerk, serving as one of the highest-ranking elected officials in the county. She previously served as Cook County Commissioner for the 5th District, where she championed access to healthcare and social services, economic development, infrastructure investment, and public safety. Her earlier roles include Director of Government Affairs at Chicago State University and Executive Director of the Illinois Legislative Black Caucus Foundation. She is also formerly the chair of Prairie State College Board of Trustees. Monica credits her background as a territory manager in the medical and pharmaceutical industries with broadening her perspective on equal access to quality healthcare, particularly controlling the cost of medications and increasing trauma centers.
Monica serves on various nonprofit boards such as the Chicago Southland Economic Development Corporation, Girls 4 Science and the JASSAC foundation. She has a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from Northern Illinois University and a master of arts degree in Communications and Training from Governors State University. Monica is also the founder of EQ Capital Consulting LLC, a firm that specializes in emotional intelligence assessment and training, speech communication, political consulting and fundraising. Her hobbies include boxing, writing, politics, continuous learning and professional development.
