Our Executive Council is an executive advisory group comprised of healthcare executives with global business backgrounds, deep expertise in healthcare, and a thorough knowledge of the trends, challenges, and opportunities facing these industries. These executives are regarded by peers as innovators and key leaders in healthcare. The Executive Council advises CHI and ensures we are accomplishing our mission, objectives, and initiatives.  The Executive Council also ensures we are connecting with large, influential healthcare and life sciences organizations, identifies and reports on key trends, and organizes key discussions with the country’s leading healthcare experts.


Dennis Urbaniak (Chairman)
Managing Director at Accenture
Mr. Dennis Urbaniak is a Managing Director at Accenture. He is a life science and healthcare executive who has demonstrated leadership in driving innovative, customer-centric approaches that result in tangible business results. His areas of expertise include population health, patient services, change management, innovation process, executive leadership, customer-centric marketing and sales, and performance management. Mr. Urbaniak is also the Chairman and a member of the Center for Healthcare Innovation’s Executive Council since its inception in 2009.
Mr. Mitchell DeKoven
Principal, Health Economics & Outcomes Research, Real-World Evidence Solutions at IQVIA
Mr. Mitchell DeKoven, MHSA, is Principal, Health Economics and Outcomes Research at IMS Health, where he leads teams in a variety of health economics and outcomes research projects, such as value development plans, systematic literature reviews and both retrospective and prospective studies. He is also instrumental in new business development efforts. Mr. DeKoven was an associate director of reimbursement and market access at ValueMedics Research LLC, which IMS acquired in March 2007. Before joining ValueMedics, he was manager of reimbursement services at United BioSource Corporation’s Center for Pricing & Reimbursement. Prior to that role, he was a consultant with CHPS Consulting, now Navigant Consulting. Previous to his experience at CHPS, Mr. DeKoven was the program manager of the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC, a position he held after completing a two-year administrative fellowship with the Johns Hopkins Health System. Mr. DeKoven is past president of the board of directors of the Lupus Foundation of America’s Greater Washington Chapter, sits on the editorial advisory boards of First Report Managed Care, Journal of Commercial Biotechnology, Journal of Comparative Effectiveness Research, American Journal of Pharmacy Benefits, International Journal of Hematology Research, and Expert Review of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research, and is a peer reviewer for Formulary, American Health & Drug Benefits, Therapeutic Innovation & Regulatory Science, Journal of General Internal Medicine, Journal of Pharmaceutical Marketing and Management, Journal of Medical Economics, and American Journal of Managed Care. He has also published over 20 peer-reviewed manuscripts in leading health care journals. Mr. DeKoven earned his M.H.S.A. from the University of Michigan School of Public Health and his B.A. in Spanish from Washington University in St. Louis.
Mr. Richard Goddard
Director of Clinical Innovation at Advocate Health Care
Mr. Richard Goddard, MS, is the Director of Clinical Innovation at Advocate Health Care (AHC) / Advocate Physician Partners (APP). Mr. Goddard is an executive who seeks to globally facilitate the innovation journey within the healthcare ecosystem to support the patient’s current and future needs. Mr. Goddard’s areas of expertise include value-based care model strategy and implementation, enterprise-wide claim analytics administration, Lean performance improvement, and project management. Prior to joining Advocate, Mr. Goddard served as a Senior Consultant at GE Healthcare Camden Group. His focus centered on system integration strategy/operations, hospital labor and non-labor process improvement, and value-based care strategy. Mr. Goddard received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Urbana, Illinois and received his Master of Science degree in Health Systems Management from Rush University in Chicago, Illinois.
Vera Rulon
Founder and President at Tir Health Advisors
Ms. Vera Rulon, MS, is Founder and President at Tir Health Advisors. As a strategic communicator, healthcare thought leader, and innovation leader, her strengths include: ability to advance an organization’s strategies via advocacy, external communications, and thought leadership; use of electronic health information to improve healthcare outcomes; developing a network of industry and professional relationships, including patient advocates both within and outside of an organization. Vera helped advance Pfizer’s Center of Excellence on Active and Healthy Aging, specifically the technology and ageing platform through thought leadership and external industry work which includes Project Catalyst (a collaborative effort with AARP), the Workgroup for Electronic Interchange (WEDI), and International Association of Geriatrics & Gerontology (IAGG). Her work with the Personal Connected Health Alliance, including coordination of Pfizer presence at HIMSS Connected Health Conference three years running elevated the company’s visibility in mobile health technologies and healthy ageing initiatives. Vera is a creative and innovative healthcare strategist and thought leader with a keen interest in empowering providers, patients and their caregivers to take charge of their healthcare. This includes better communication between healthcare providers, payers, the life sciences, and patients/caregivers; ensuring access to healthcare all over the world; and, importantly, the use of data and research to advance public health world-wide.
Ms. Bhavini Shah
Customer Success Director, Healthcare & LifeSciences at Salesforce
Ms. Bhavini Shah, MBA, is a Customer Success Director of Healthcare & LifeSciences at Salesforce. She is a healthcare expert with expertise in strategic planning, sale operations, and marketing. She has held positions in the payer, provider, and pharma sectors. She was an Executive Director of System Planning & Strategic Development at Carle, where she was responsible for the strategic development team and regional teams. Prior to that, she was the Senior Director of Project Management at Siemens Healthcare, where she was responsible for managing the portfolio of strategic projects for the region. Ms. Shah also held positions at Blue Cross Blue Shield, where she worked as the Senior Manager of Strategic Relations and led collaborations across 5 organizations in the development of a community medical record exchange solution. Prior to that, she was the Manager of E-Commerce at Blue Cross Blue Shield. Ms. Shah received her MBA in Strategy, Marketing and Finance from University of Chicago-Booth School of Business. She is experienced in helping organizations through times of transformation. Ms. Shah has the analytical skills with the ability to help organizations gain new insights and develop new strategies.

Dr. Eckhard von Keutz, PhD, is the Senior Vice President of Head Global Early Development at Bayer HealthCare. His areas of expertise include supervising large departments or institutes, managing interdisciplinary teams, leading restructuring and continuous improvement processes, regulatory expertise, designing and conducting preclinical/toxicological studies, and toxicological risk assessment/management. His past roles include Vice President of Global Head HealthCare Toxicology at Bayer AG; Senior Director for Global Head of Toxicology-Pharma at Bayer AG; and Scientific coordinator in Toxicology Institute at Bayer AG.
