The Government of Israel Economic Mission to the Midwest, the America Israel Chamber of Commerce Chicago, the Center for Healthcare Innovation, and our sponsor and host, Grant Thornton LLP, recently successfully collaborated on the 2010 “U.S.-Israel Healthcare Innovation” Conference in Chicago, IL, USA. This half-day event provided a forum for discussing the challenges, synergies, and opportunities for increased cooperation and business partnerships between the U.S. and Israel in healthcare technology. The conference also included a panel discussion, “Key Trends in Healthcare Technology: Integrating Investment and Innovation”, with industry leaders and researchers from the U.S. and Israel, as well as presentations from leading Israeli firms. The event was highly successful and attracted a capacity audience of senior executives, researchers, entrepreneurs and venture capitalists to the event.
Technological advances in healthcare technology, particularly in medical imaging, are changing the way medicine is practiced, and the U.S. and Israel are on the forefront of this wave of innovation. By fostering collaboration between these two countries among academia, corporations, entrepreneurs, professional service firms, investors, and non-profit organizations, our event hopefully brought value to both the Israeli and American economies, as well as advancing the state of healthcare. Both the U.S. and Israel are centers of high-tech and healthcare research and development. The U.S. has top universities, world class medical facilities, and a highly skilled and dynamic work force. Israel also has a world class higher education system, renowned medical centers, and an entrepreneurial culture. Given their shared strengths, it is natural that we came together to promote business and scientific cooperation between our two countries. We all look forward to doing the event again next year.
