Joseph Gaspero
CEO & Co-Founder of CHI
Joseph Gaspero is the CEO and Co-Founder of CHI. He is a healthcare executive, strategist, and researcher. He co-founded CHI in 2009 to be an independent, objective, and interdisciplinary research and education institute for healthcare. Joseph leads CHI’s research and education initiatives focusing on including patient-driven healthcare, patient engagement, clinical trials, drug pricing, and other pressing healthcare issues. He sets and executes CHI’s strategy, devises marketing tactics, leads fundraising efforts, and manages CHI’s Management team. Joseph is passionate and committed to making healthcare and our world a better place. His leadership stems from a wide array of experiences, including founding and operating several non-profit and for-profit organizations, serving in the U.S. Air Force in support of 2 foreign wars, and deriving expertise from time spent in industries such as healthcare, financial services, and marketing. Joseph’s skills include strategy, management, entrepreneurship, healthcare, clinical trials, diversity & inclusion, life sciences, research, marketing, and finance. He has lived in six countries, traveled to over 30 more, and speaks 3 languages, all which help him view business strategy through the prism of a global, interconnected 21st century. Joseph has a B.S. in Finance from the University of Illinois at Chicago. When he’s not immersed in his work at CHI, he spends his time snowboarding backcountry, skydiving, mountain biking, volunteering, engaging in MMA, and rock climbing.

Dr. James Gillespie, PhD, JD, MPA
President & Co-Founder of CHI
Dr. James J. Gillespie, PhD, JD, MPA, is a consultant, researcher, and scholar in the application of advanced analytics, business intelligence, and big data to address challenges and opportunities for healthcare, biopharmaceutical, medical, and technology companies. His research has appeared in numerous peer-reviewed academic outlets and top industry/trade journals, and he is the lead author of the book: "Patient-Centric Analytics in Health Care: Driving Value in Clinical Settings and Psychological Practice” published by Lexington Books. With two MD physician colleagues, he is working on a new book: "AI and Machine Learning: Revolutionizing the Future of Healthcare and Medicine." Dr. Gillespie’s research has appeared in Academy of Management Review, American Behavioral Scientist, European Journal of Social Psychology, Federal Reserve Bank, Harvard Business Review, and Strategic Management Journal. Dr. Tina Shah, MD, MPH
Global Healthcare Thought-Leader
Dr. Tina Shah, MD, MPH, specializes in public health and clinical research and is a part of several positions. Her positions include: Physician-Fellow for Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at University of Chicago Hospitals; Chair of Resident and Fellow Section at American Medical Association; and Physician Member at American Medical Association. A prior position Dr. Shah held was Secretary of Governing Council Resident and Fellow Section at Illinois State Medical Society. In addition, she attended Harvard School of Public Health, for M.P.H., Health Policy and Management and Thomas Jefferson University for M.D.

Tolga Babur
Healthcare Researcher
Mr. Tolga Babur is a Master of Healthcare Administration candidate at Johns Hopkins University. As a researcher, he is investigating questions related to patient engagement and value in healthcare. His previous research focused on policy and entrepreneurial landscapes for telehealth in the US and several other countries. Prior to joining the MHA program, he attended Duke University, studying public policy, economics, and biology. Tolga is also a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and serves on the Community Outreach Committee within the Maryland chapter. Mr. Babur has his BS in Public Policy Analysis, Economics, Biology from Duke University.

En-Jui (Ivory) Chang
Project Manager
Ivory Chang is a Project Manager at CHI, where she develops and executes marketing plans and manages customer relationships for CHI. Her area of expertise includes marketing, event management, customer relationship management, and market research. She is currently working on her MS degree in Integrated Marketing Communications with a Graduate Certificate in Business Data Analytics at Loyola University Chicago. She received her BS degree in Material Science and Engineering from Chiao Tung University in Taiwan. Ivory is passionate and motivated by making a positive impact to the world.

Ryan Haake, MS
Healthcare Researcher
Ryan Haake is a Molecular Biologist at Argonne National Lab. His areas of expertise are life science R&D and basic science research. He has several years of industry and academic research experience and his projects have included genetic engineering, cell biology, immunology, and cancer biology. Prior to his current position, Ryan was a Molecular Biosciences researcher at Northwestern University and previously completed an internship at Baxter International in Exploratory Sciences. He holds a M.S. from Northwestern University in Biotechnology and a B.S. degree from Ohio University in Biological Sciences.

Lawrence is an entrepreneur with a background in tech, healthcare, analytics, marketing, informatics, finance, law, and nonprofits. In addition to co-founding various startups, nonprofits, social enterprises, and initiatives, Lawrence advises innumerable nonprofits and startups. Lawrence currently serves on the boards of the Global Adolescent Project, First Ladies Initiative, and the Global Health Review.

Julie Kalter
Healthcare Researcher
Julie Kalter is a Healthcare Researcher and current MBA Candidate at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, where she is studying Health Enterprise Management. She is particularly interested in the shift towards value-based care and the ways in which it will shape the future healthcare landscape. Julie began her career as a research scientist at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals before moving to Promidian, a life science-focused management consulting firm. At Promidian, she worked with large pharmaceutical clients on pricing and marketing strategies targeted at payer and provider customers. Julie received her bachelor’s degree in Biological Basis of Behavior from the University of Pennsylvania.

Senior Project Manager
Mr. Joshua Limp is an Associate Insights Manager at Storck US, where he is responsible for delivering actionable insights through research and analytics on market-leading brands. His role focuses on bringing the voice of the consumer into the organization to drive consumer-focused brand and portfolio strategy. He has volunteered for CHI since 2010. His role has evolved as CHI has grown, now focusing on grant exploration for the organization identifying and building strategic relationships with many of the life sciences’ largest donor organizations. His healthcare experience includes working as a Research Associate for healthcare economic development on the Phoenix Chamber of Commerce’s Phoenix Forward initiative. His areas of expertise include research and analytics, grant program management, and life science marketing. His previous experience includes Category Management Analyst at PepsiCo Frito-Lay and Project Director at Ipsos Innoquest. His education includes a B.S. in Marketing from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and he is a Graduate of International Business from Temple University Rome.
